Only three people in the entire world knew what was the real reason. The director, the lead actor and the scriptwriter KV Vijendraprasad. They took drastic measures to safe keep the secret even from the crew members. As they believed that this could drastically affect the release hype for ‘Baahubali- The Conclusion” which is set to release in April 2017.

Mohenjo Daro- Somber after look from the 100 crore club

Hrithik Roshan- Pooja Hegde starring historical movie Mohenjo Daro  brings us an epic adventure-romance story. The story takes place in Mohenjo Daro in the era of the Indus Valley civilisation that dates back to 2,600 BC. Mohenjo Daro is Hrithik’s second collaboration with Gowariker after his 2008 film Jodhaa Akbar, which was yet another historical movie.

The movie is in the Rs 100-crore club through worldwide box office collection. Alas, the Indus Valley Civilization movie has been produced at a budget of Rs 100 crore with Rs 15 crore spent on its promotions. The clash with Akshay Kumar’s Rustom, a film which grossed over Rs 110 crore at the domestic box office did not help Mohenjo Daro at all. The only saving grace was the fact that the movie did exceptionally well internationally. But the failure to recover its production costs from the domestic distribution alone has send Gowariker and his team in to mourning.

“Ben-Hur” : A tale of Catastrophe!

“Ben-Hur” is the fifth adaptation of Lew Wallace’s 1880 novel “Ben-Hur: A Tale of the Christ.” A 1959 version won an Oscar for the best picture with Charlton Heston was a box office smash. In a world of remakes and sequels “Ben-Hur” was under a lot of pressure to deliver the expectations. But instead the movie crumpled last weekend at the boxoffice.

The movie stars Jack Huston and Morgan Freeman, with Timur Bekmambetov in the director’s chair and was filmed mostly in Italy. “Ben-Hur’s” makers consulted religious leaders very extensively, to make the film adaptation as realistic and closer to  biblical values. Even with a staggering 100 million dollars of budget the movie generally received negative feedback from the critics with Forbes describing it as ‘summer’s most predictable miss’.

Sources reveal that the movie could possibly lose over a 100 million dollars after its humongous collapse and will almost certainly shed screens next weekend. But it is quite possible that the film could fare well on DVD and other home entertainment platforms bringing the loss closer to 60 to 80 million dollars.
